The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America Transforms Website with a New Look and New Technology

Visitors to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) website, msassociation.org, may have noticed some changes. Over the past few months, a new design was unveiled and various enhancements were made providing the multiple sclerosis (MS) community with the resources and tools they need at their finger tips. Some highlights to the new msassociation.org include:

• A log-in feature allowing visitors to sign-up for email updates from MSAA about educational programs and events in their area as well as MSAA updates and medical news
• Capability for users to review MSAA programs and services and then download applications for the services of interest
• An interactive educational video series allowing viewers to watch a video, ask questions, and give feedback
• An enhanced volunteer and donate section showcasing new ways to contribute time or money to the MS community
• A publication section where visitors can view MSAA’s publications either on screen or downloaded as a PDF file. Also, publications can be ordered through online applications and will be mailed anywhere in the United States. 

With the enhancements made to msassociation.org, MSAA hopes to expand its reach in the MS community. “Our goal to help more people in more places is substantially brought closer to reality by this new website technology,” states MSAA President & Chief Executive Officer Doug Franklin. “We are very proud of our continued commitment to enrich the quality of people’s lives in every way possible.”

The most common neurological disorder diagnosed in young adults, multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. This disorder damages or destroys the protective covering (known as myelin) surrounding the nerves, causing reduced communication between the brain and nerve pathways. Common symptoms include visual problems, overwhelming fatigue, difficulty with balance and coordination, and various levels of impaired mobility. MS is not contagious or fatal.
